Chunk-Style

I know...I've been bad. I haven't been updating much lately. It's just that things have been busy. Let me try to catch you up.

Well, I went to see the doctor this week. Nothing serious, but I *did* have a bit of a rash on...well, on an area that nearly rhymes with 'rash' (especially if Sean Connery says it). The doctor didn't seem concerned, which I guess is good. Mommy and Daddy have been putting zinc oxide on it, which looks a little like clown make-up, but with any luck will help. Anyway...while at the doctor, I also learned that I'm up to 11 pounds! And Mommy was worried I wasn't getting enough milk. Ha!

Also this week we've been trying to get out a bit more. For instance, we went to "Baby Box Office," which is where the local movie theatre shows movies for moms and dads with babies or little kids. It was fun, although I got a bit of a tummy ache mid-way through the movie (and I wasn't even eating the Junior Mints...hey, I just made a joke. Junior Mints...JUNIOR, get it? Come on, it's not bad for a first joke). Anyway, it was nice to get out, and we saw my pal Alex and his mommy, Sandy.

What else? Oh yeah, this week marked a big of a milestone for me and Mommy in that we spent a little time apart. Basically what happened was Daddy took me and Gracie for a nice long walk while Mommy did stuff at home (once I think she napped and the other time she took a shower). It was hard for all of us, but I think it's good, since there will be times where we can't be together. So, best to start practicing now.

I guess that's the really big news. Besides, I know that part of the reason you tune in is for the pictures, not just the stories, so here you go.

Here I am kicking back in Daddy's arms. He has a pretty comfy lap.

And here I am crashed out on Mommy's shoulder. You wouldn't think this was comfortable, but it is. I guess her chest is posturepedic or something.

Here's a photo of me on Daddy's chest. I know it's a lot of photos of me sleeping. I don't know why Mommy and Daddy don't take more shots of me awake. I've been pretty active lately. Maybe it's just easier. And by the way, what's up with Daddy? Does he not own any shirts with sleeves? We get it Daddy, you work out; nice guns, now get over yourself!

And lastly, here's a shot of me and Mommy taking a bath. No worries for you faint of heart; I think all the important bits are covered. Not that I mind; I've got nothing to hide. But Mommy and Daddy are a little prudish about these things.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by. I'll try to keep the updates coming. This week looks promising: A trip to the dentist with mommy; the Simpson's Movie and who knows what else...

D'oh!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Things have been...weird around here. Nobody seems to be themselves, me included. I don't really know how to explain it except to say check out these photos and see what you think.

Here I am:

Here's Mommy:

And here's Daddy:

See what I mean? I hope things get back to normal soon...

Toys!

So, I was telling you about all those great toys I've been getting. I thought I'd share some pictures.

First, there's my mobile. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Sure, from your perspective, it looks cool:

But check it out from my perspective. Doesn't it looks a little like some sort of mind-control device? You are getting sleepy...

What I *DO* really like is my new bouncy chair. Not only is a comfy place to sit and bounce, but it vibrates. And after all those workouts I've been doing, it's nice to get a little massage. Here I am chilling out in my chair:

And here I am hanging in my chair with my sister Gracie (she wishes she had such a great chair):

Anyway, I've really been enjoying my toys. I'll get some pictures of me using the others soon. In the meantime...

YOU ARE GETTING SLEEPY......SLEEPY....

SLEEPY....

ZZZZzzzz....

The virtues of exercise

I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a while. It's been a pretty busy and exciting week. Let me try to catch you up...

This week has been all about fitness. I had my two week check up this week and I wanted to pass with flying colors. You see, most kids lose a little weight after being born and doctor types like to make sure they've gained it back by about two weeks. So, to prepare, I've been trying to eat healthy and work out. Here's a shot of me after some intense tummy time. You can tell it was a good workout; I'm pretty tuckered here.

I guess the exercise paid off, though. My doctor said I was up to 9lbs/13oz, which is nearly a whole pound above my birth weight. Plus my jaundice is all gone. My heart and lungs sound good, too. It was a good check-up.

In addition to seeing the doctor, me and Mommy and Daddy have just been going more places in general. Nothing big; just errands and stuff. As a result of being out and about, I've been dining out more -- which I enjoy -- and meeting lots of new people. Plus we've been entertaining at the house. In fact, a few of Mommy and Daddy's friends have come by and brought food, which is really generous of them.

Speaking of generous, on Wednesday we got a HUGE pile of packages. And the best part was they were almost all for me! I got some of the coolest toys and books and stuff this week. Mommy and Daddy sure do have some nice friends. I've been trying everything out and I hope to share some pictures of it all with you soon.

Wow, I'm pretty tired just thinking about all the stuff that happened this week. Maybe it's all those new workouts, too. Either way, I've been sleeping more at night -- up to 5 hours at a shot -- which is nice for everyone, I think. Not that I don't still grab a nap here and there. In fact, the other day I was so tired, I just kinda fell asleep right where I was. Here's a picture:

Yeah, life is pretty sweet.

Ewwww!

See if you can guess what this is:

That's right, it's my belly button stump. And today (well, last night technically) I am officially stump free! I'm glad to have it gone. It was kind of stinky. Plus Mommy and Daddy kept poking at it. Anyway, here's the end result:

Pretty cute, eh? So cute, in fact, I'm thinking about getting a sponsorship deal. What's that...you're wondering who the heck would pay me to display my belly button? Well check this out, and tell me you don't see any resemblance.

I thought so. And that's going to make me some big bucks. Or at the very least, free Timbuk2 products for the rest of my life. Wooohoo!

Gotta run, but perhaps tomorrow I'll tell you about today's adventure, an episode I like to call: The Doctor's Office or The Case of the Incredible Growing Boy.

Now I know my ABC's...

Mommy and Daddy did a nice update on my room today. It involved a lot of banging, which I wasn't so crazy about, but in the end I think it turned out nice. I do get the sense, however, that it will ultimately be educational. Something to do with reading. Mommy and Daddy kept pointing and saying "alphabet" and singing a little song. Nice tune. Catchy. Anyway, here's what it looks like.
On the subject of reading, much has been made about my ability to see, or rather whether or not I can see things clearly. I resent this. Ok, sure, my vision isn't perfect. But I'm not some Mr. Magoo-esque character who can't tell one thing from another. Stuff's just...you know...a little fuzzy sometimes.

Here, to give you a better idea, here's a photo of me "specially filtered" to give you a sense of my world. I hope this will end the needless speculation. Because remember, just because I can't see perfectly, doesn't mean I'm not watching you!

Tub Time with Daddy

Grandma and Grandpa just left yesterday. I was sad to see them go. They're awful nice, plus they were so incredibly helpful around the house. Grandma made yummy food (not that I can eat it yet, but it smelled super good), Grandpa helped clean and they both took care of a bunch of errands. I just can't say thank you enough.

So, in addition to waking up with a smaller fan club, I overheard Mommy and Daddy saying I smell. Can you believe it? First of all, if *do* smell, it's their fault. They keep wiping me down; it's hardly my fault if they're not doing it right. Plus, it's just hypocritical. Mommy isn't exactly fresh a lot of the time, and as for Daddy...well, he just stinks. In fact, I'd wager half the reason I smell -- again, IF I even do -- is because Daddy's always handling me after one of his sweaty workouts. And he wonders why I cry...

Anyway, apparently the solution to all this was a bath with Daddy. So now we're both clean. Maybe next time Mommy will take a bath with me so she can get clean too. It's not that I mind the bath so much -- truthfully, it was kind of fun. It's just that if Mommy and Daddy are going to point fingers and say I'm stinky they should follow the sage advice of Michael Jackson and start with "the man in the mirror." Yes, indeed, that's good advice. Not that I'm surprised. After all, who knows more about little boys than Michael Jackson.

And on that note, if you're the sort who digs pictures of bath time, here's one of me and daddy in the tub. Enjoy!

My Ride

As promised, here are some snapshots of my Buzz.

First off, notice the sweet wheels. I've got 12s in the rear and 7s in the front, which means I'm good off road OR just cruisin' around town. I went with the 'midnight black' for the exterior rather than something showy, but I've still got some nice chrome accents. What I like best is that it's sporty, but still has a lot of cargo space. I admit it; I don't travel light. Snacks, games, a change of clothes (*wink*wink*)...you just never know where the day will take you, and I like to be prepared.

Here's an interior shot. I've got bucket seat, which is so comfortable. In fact, in this shot I'm catching a few Zs myself -- that's how plush it is. I had the racing seat belt put in, too. I like to ride fast, but that doesn't mean I take chances. Plus, I just think it looks cool, especially with the Ferrari Red seating. But I didn't stop there. I accessorized with my own take on "fuzzy dice." I know it's little bit old school, but I like to mix things up, combine the old with the new, know what I'm saying? It's what makes my personal style personal.

You're probably wondering why I didn't drop the soft top. Normally, I love cruising with the top down, wind in my hair and all. But I need some new shades -- gotta keep the sun out of my eyes -- and until I get 'em, I figured I'd leave the top up.

Anyway, I gotta roll. But you can check me out all summer, either here on the blog or cruising around town. Just try to keep up...

Rockin' and Rollin'

Hola, amigos. Sorry I haven't rapped at you in a while. I've been busy adjusting to my new digs. So far, I gotta say things are going well. I moved some stuff around in my room and now even more than before: MY CRIB ROCKS!

In fact, here's a shot of me rockin' out on air guitar. Nice!

Because it's so cool, I've been spending most of my time around the house. But there have been a few adventures. On Sunday I got a new sling. It's like a hammock that I get to ride around in -- how can you beat that? Then today, I took a spin in my Buzz. What's that, you don't know what a Buzz is? Why it's only the most kick-ass ride EVER! Oh sure, some would say it's just a stroller, but I disagree, because these days it's all about how you roll. And mine ride is totally pimped out. I don't have any pics just yet, but I'll post some soon.

Anyhoo, what I really wanted to tell you about was a funny thing that happened today. It's a little embarrassing, but what the heck. So I'm kicking back on my changing pad today, going commando, when I feel a rumbling down below. Well, some guys would hold back, but I figure "Hey, it's my place. I'll do what I want." So I let loose and next thing you know...well, you remember that old gag with funny book titles:

"Under the Bleachers by Seymour Butts"
"Yellow Spots on the Floor by I.P. Freely"
and of course
"Brown Spots on the Wall by Hoo Flung Poo" ...?

Well let's just say I wrote my own edition of that last one. Yessiree, it was a doozy of a deuce, a poop with pop, a BM that could have been mistaken for an ICBM.

I'm not bragging or anything. I'm just saying it was pretty funny, but maybe you had to be there.

Anyway, I gotta run. It's time for another meal. But I'll rap at you again soon, and I'll be sure to include some cool new pics.

The name's Bean....Lima bean

There's been much talk about whether various parts of me look like my mommy or my daddy. After carefully considering this recent photo, I think you'll agree that I actually look most like Daniel "James Bond" Craig. And yes, I do like my breast milk shaken, not stirred.

In other news, today was my first day at home. I'm very relieved to announce that it has been pleasantly uneventful. No poking or prodding, and best of all nothing has been snipped. I got to see my new room, which is pretty cool, and I even slept in my nice new crib. Best of all, I met my canine big sister, Gracie. She was really happy to see me! I can't wait until I'm bigger so she and I can play. I think she's looking forward to that too.

Here's my first picture at home: me and mommy snuggling. What a great mommy I have. (and a shout-out to daddy for taking the nice pics!).

And finally, here's a pic of me giving my lungs a workout ('O Sole Mio...'). It's important to keep in shape, you know. Truthfully, I haven't had much to complain about yet as far as mom and dad are concerned, but I like to know I can get their attention any time I need to.

What's next?!?

I'm a little worried about tomorrow. Not because it's my first day at home. I figure I can handle that in and of itself. No, I'm concerned because if the last two days have been anything of a trend, I don't like where things are headed. Recall...

Day 1 was tough. Being born is no easy task, let me tell you. It's not just all the pushing and the squishing (although you should have seen my head. I'm only just now getting it back to the way I like it!). I was quite happy where I was. I had this great pad where it was dark and quiet. My meals were taken care of for me and I didn't even have to clean up after myself. Then, all of a sudden, I'm out in the bright lights and it's loud and everyone's poking at me. Rough day.

Then day 2 started ok but quickly took a turn for the worse. It was just getting into a nice little routine -- Eat, Sleep, Poop; Repeat -- when I had the most painful and embarrassing operation you can imagine. I think my pediatrician must be Dr. Torquemada. Why would anyone look down there and think, "hmmm, needs a trim." Anyway, I'm doing ok now. I just don't want to go through anything like that again.

So like I said, I'm a little worried about tomorrow. Then again, maybe things will turn around. I'll keep you posted...

I'M HERE!

FINALLY!!! I know...it took me long enough, right? Well, it wasn't what I had planned either. Sometimes these things are just beyond our control. Either way, I'm glad to be here and finally meet my mom and dad -- and all their friends and family -- face to face. And hey, if you're reading this, that means you're probably one of those friends or family, so stop back soon. I'll post some pictures and maybe some thoughts on this whole birth process...
